Just as the sea foam dances on the waves
And the ebb and flow carves out the deepest caves,
The creatures that live in the sea and sand
Took their time to find balance with the land.
Then suddenly there was a shift in the wind,
Humans became greedy as they finned and skinned,
As populations grew man took more than they need,
Seeking comfort, convenience, safety and speed.
The natural balance that took so long to settle
Was offset by mining for minerals and metal.
The land, air and sea became commodities
Exploited to fuel human oddities.
Now we are facing the system reaction
To all the years of human extraction.
Climate change and ecosystem collapse,
All the repercussions of our actions filling in the gaps.
The youth of tomorrow will inherit today
But it is up to us all to decide on the role we play
As the stewards of creation, humanity must revert
To the time when we lived in tandem with the Earth.
